Conference on Canine and Feline Genetics and Genomics

Post Conference Tours

On a sunny day in Bern, you can see the breathtaking north faces of the famous mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. For those of you who are interested to explore gentler aspects of the Alps with magnificent panoramic views on these imposing giants, we will offer guided hiking trips to the Grindelwald area on the day after the conference. These trips will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2019, which is a public holiday in Switzerland. We will offer three alternative options:

"Männlichen (2343 m) - Kleine Scheidegg (2061 m)", 1.5 hours easy walking on a wide and almost level trail, close-up view of the Eiger north face; departure from Bern 9 am, return approx. 6 pm

Easy plus options

"First (2167 m) - Bachalpsee (2265 m) - First", 2 hours of easy walking on a wide trail, panoramic views and options for extra activities; departure from Bern 7:30 am, return approx. 6 pm

Destination depending on weather and snow conditions (we want to avoid spring snow), 4-6 hours of hiking, hiking shoes required; departure from Bern 6 am, return approx 6 pm

There will be a maximum of eight participants per trip and each group will be accompanied by one member of the local organizing team who is familiar in the area. We don't charge for these trips, but you will have to bear the costs of rides with trains or cable cars, which might come to approximately CHF 50 - CHF 150 per person. In order to register, you must send an E-mail to Tosso Leeb indicating your preferred trip and the name(s) of participants. All guided trips are subject to good weather conditions. Definitive confirmation or cancellation of the trips will be sent on the evening of Tuesday, May 28. We reserve the right to change the specific destinations of the trips depending on e.g. weather/trail conditions.
